What GPTZero does
GPTZero is an AI detector for written text. Based on its website as of October 2026, it checks whether a document was written by a large language model, and its help center says its model was trained with a focus on English prose. You paste text or upload a file; a free plan covers up to 10,000 words a month, and scans over 10,000 characters need a free account. Paid plans (Essential, Premium and Professional) raise the monthly word allowance, and the site also offers a plagiarism check, a Chrome extension and an API. We did not find a feature on its website aimed specifically at source code.
What this tool does instead
This site only looks at code. You paste a single snippet, and an AI model reviews its style and returns a verdict, an AI probability and the reasons behind the number. There is no account and no payment; the free allowance is 10 checks per day. It does not check essays or other prose, does not search the web and does not compare submissions with each other, so it cannot tell you that code was copied from somewhere.
Which one fits your situation
- Essays and written answers. For prose, a text detector such as GPTZero is the kind of tool built for the job. This site is not.
- A programming assignment. If the work is code, paste the relevant function or file section here and read the reasons.
- Checking your own code. Students and developers who want to see how their code reads, without creating an account anywhere, can use this tool as often as the daily limit allows.
- Code review at work. For a pull request or a contractor's delivery, a quick read of style is usually enough to decide whether to ask questions.
Whatever tool you use, a score is a reason to look closer, not proof. Asking the author to explain or extend their code is still the most reliable check available.

Frequently asked questions
Is this site affiliated with GPTZero?
No. This is an independent tool. The description of GPTZero on this page is based on what GPTZero's own website said when we checked it in October 2026; check their site for current details.
Why use a code-focused checker instead of a text detector?
Code has its own signals, such as comment style, naming and boilerplate. This tool's instructions are written for source code only.
Does this tool check for plagiarism?
No. It does not compare your code with other submissions or with code on the web. It only reads the snippet you paste and estimates whether its style looks AI-written.
How many checks can I run?
You paste one snippet at a time, with a free allowance of 10 checks per day per IP address. There is no account and no paid plan.
Which one is more accurate?
We have not compared them and do not make accuracy claims for either. They are built for different kinds of input, so pick the one that matches what you are checking.
Is my code stored?
No. The snippet goes to a third-party AI model provider (Groq, with Google Gemini as a fallback) for the analysis and the result comes straight back to you. We do not save the code or write it to our logs.
