About AI Code Detector
Who runs this site
aicodedetect.com is a small, independent project built and maintained by an individual developer. It is not affiliated with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, GitHub or any other AI company. The goal is simple: give teachers, interviewers, code reviewers and curious developers a free, quick second opinion on whether a piece of code was likely written by an AI assistant.
What it does
You paste a code snippet and the tool returns a verdict (likely AI-generated, likely human-written, or mixed), an AI probability from 0 to 100%, and a few short reasons explaining what it noticed. It works with any mainstream programming language and needs no sign-up.
How detection works
Your snippet is sent to a large language model (Google Gemini) with instructions to act as a careful code reviewer. Rather than looking for a watermark, which AI tools generally do not add to code, it weighs stylistic signals such as comment style, naming consistency, boilerplate patterns, formatting and personal quirks, then returns a calibrated probability and the strongest reasons. The home page explains these signals in more detail.
Limitations
- It is a probabilistic second opinion, not proof. Results can be wrong in both directions. Clean human code can look AI-written, and edited AI code can look human.
- Short snippets are hard. Accuracy is best on complete functions or file sections and drops on very short or very generic code.
- It cannot reliably name the tool. It estimates whether code looks AI-written in general, not whether it came from a specific assistant.
- Do not use it alone for decisions. For grading, hiring or disciplinary questions, talk with the author and look at other evidence.
Your code is not stored
Code you submit is sent to the Gemini API for analysis and the result is returned to your browser. We do not save your code in a database or write it to our logs. See the Privacy Policy for details, and please do not paste secrets or confidential code.
